Speaker 1:

How can confidence and a deeper sense of connection radically change the work you're bringing into the world and your life as a whole? Find out in this episode. Are you ready to unlock courage, supercharge your confidence and become an absolute powerhouse at what you do and as a leader? Then you're in the right place. Welcome to the Confident, connected Leader podcast. I am your host, lisa Jeffs, your coach intuitive.

Speaker 1:

I have a decade-long career helping some of the world's most incredible leaders heart-centered, purpose-driven, sometimes highly sensitive, highly impactful and dedicated to the work that they are bringing into the world. Except, sometimes, the self-doubt and the sabotage and the lack of confidence can cloud the path forward. That is what this podcast is here to help with to move away that fog or that cloud that's blocking the path and helping you to become the most confident, self-assured leader, whether you're leading a team, a leading a mission or simply leading yourself to create your vision. I am so honored and thrilled to have you here. This is an intro episode, so what you're getting from this episode is just a little taste of who I am, what you can expect from this podcast, and a little taste teaser of what you're going to get in the next podcast, which is going to be a more real, value-packed podcast to help you with one very important topic, which is self-doubt. Let's get into who the heck am I and why. What makes me even qualified to talk about these subjects. In the podcast, we're going to be really focusing a lot on self-doubt sabotage and helping you to become the most absolutely confident leader that you can be, because when you are fully confident in yourself, in the work that you're doing, in what you bring to the table and how you show up, doors just start opening. When you are confident, you communicate a lot better. I always say this is one thing I tell my daughter I have an 18-year-old daughter she shall be 19 soon, so she's just at that stage where she's really finding her footing in the world that if you can learn these skills how to show up with self-confidence, how to communicate in a way that is charismatic, in a way that's impactful, that leaves people asking well, who is that? When you meet someone who is really great at communication and they're charismatic, they don't even have to be the most clear, concise, articulate person ever you just leave with a feeling that they really cared about what you were saying, they valued that you were listening to them or engaging with them and you just really connected to their energy field. This is your key, especially in leadership, to unlocking a multitude of doors.

Speaker 1:

So I am really excited to talk to you a little bit about me, why I became a coach. I'm going to make this super short. I think, as most coaches have, they have a story of struggle and challenge and triumph, which is why they go into coaching at least a lot of the effective coaches that I know and I'm not going to go too deep into the story today. I'll be sprinkling it throughout this podcast more of the story because there's a lot of different pieces. But let's just say I went through a lot of periods as a young child I don't know specifically if this is why I had a lot of insecurities and self-doubt and challenges with my self-worth. I was adopted and it can be a challenge I'm an adopted child to deal with that. I would say across the board as a human being, self-worth and really seeing ourselves as valuable and worthy as human beings, as leaders, as partners, as parents and children. It's across the board. We can struggle with that. So I had a lot of challenges when I was younger, really seeing my value, and when I graduated high school there was you know, I always remember this point my father had passed just at that graduation time and I remember you graduating. I don't know if it was a week later, I can't remember. It's a little bit foggy in that sense, but I remember staring up at the office building where my dad used to work because I worked there as well for a bit and just thinking to myself what, what am I even going to do now? I don't, I don't have any skills, I'm not good at anything. I might as well go into adult entertainment because I knew I could do that, and that lasted for about four years, and I'll go into more stories with that throughout the podcast. I won't go into it now because I want to keep this short, but it wasn't until I had my daughter.

Speaker 1:

During that period of time she was really the catalyst that got me out of that lifestyle and into college, into university, and really changing my self view of who I was and what I was capable of. That was the catalyst of it that I realized that all these things that hold us back, all these stories, all these limitations, as much as they are part of our growth and our learning here as human beings, and I do think they're important. I know that we hold on to way more than we we need to. That's helping us. We carry these stories so much longer than we need to and they impact our lives so drastically. They impact the quality of our lives and our work. You know there's I have clients in their 60s and even 70s that are still carrying these things and I'm honored to be a part of their journey because you know you're never too old to do the work, to shed the limitations, to become truly as limitless as we can as a human being, to create the life and leave the the work right, our legacy, and to have the connections here that really matter. You know we're never too old for for this mass releasing of everything we do not need.

Speaker 1:

There is a saying that we're not born confident. We learn these skills as we're older. In fact, you'll find a lot of confidence coaches who say this. I disagree. I mean, let's be honest. There's many different people in many different stories, but for the most part, I actually believe that we are born confident, like have you ever seen a toddler who's determined to do? Do something, make something, happen, to get something to whatever it is, fill in the blank. They are unstoppable, they will go and they will not take no for an answer. It's once we start getting into the world a little bit more.

Speaker 1:

You know I can remember. You know I can remember. You know I can remember, you know I can, as I got older. You know, even as it's still pretty young, three, four, five we have these situations. We have these experiences. We internalize different things as children that impact how we feel as adults and this is what dampens our confidence. These situations can dampen our self-worth and how we see ourselves and what we believe we are capable of.

Speaker 1:

You know, I have a story from childhood in dodgeball where I got picked last and I internalized that as I suck and I suck at everything. And it wasn't until I got older and I really started doing this work that that memory came up and I was able to look at it through a new lens and see that, oh, it didn't mean that, you know, I wasn't worth anything or nobody wanted me, or it was worth. It meant that I wasn't great at volleyball or dodgeball and the people who were choosing wanted to win. And I can see that now with the new lenses, but at the time it was quite. I internalized it in a way that negatively impacted my life for quite a while, and this is what we do.

Speaker 1:

So throughout this podcast and throughout the stories and the lessons, and everything that I'm going to share is to help you untangle these webs that have come over you, all of us, and are negatively impacting your potential, what you're producing, the money you're making, the relationships you're having, so you can shed and really step into your leadership and your ability to create the life and the work that that is going to fulfill you and your purpose here on this planet. So the Confident, connected Leader podcast is helping you to become the absolute most confident leader, and when I say connected, what I'm referring to is really connected to being more present, being connected to the work that you're doing, aligning it to your values, connecting to your intuition, connecting to those deeper parts of you that make your work and this life so much more fulfilling. You know, helping you to release things like burnout and overthinking and analysis, paralysis All these things help you to show up so much more impactful in the work that you're doing. There was a study that I was researching when I was researching some things for my LinkedIn profile and when I started reading these things, it was. It wasn't shocking in the fact that I knew, like I didn't know these things already, but it was shocking just to see them written, so I'll read you a couple of them.

Speaker 1:

Those with high self-esteem earn approximately 28,000 more annually than those who lack self-esteem and confidence. Over a 40-year career, that adds up to 1.12 million in lost earnings. This is from NBC News. I would argue that that number can be tripled or quadrupled, or really X times whatever you want to fill in the blank, depending on the work that you're doing, it can have an absolute, massive impact on the financial opportunities that you have and the financial earnings that you're bringing in. 70% of individuals experience imposter syndrome at some point in their careers, preventing them from reaching for higher opportunities or breaking through glass ceilings. This is from the Harvard Business Review.

Speaker 1:

What happens when we don't go after the opportunities that we want, when we start playing small, when we start holding ourselves back, which I hear all the time constantly? This is a huge part of the work I do with clients is and now, if you're holding yourself back and you're allowing yourself, you're doing the work to move through it perfect. But if you're holding yourself back and you're really stuck in that spot and you're not allowing yourself to really acknowledge the fact that you hold the key to moving beyond that and only you can do it. So getting out of the blame game or getting out of any kind of victim mentality because as much as we can be victimized, if we're holding on to those stories and we just end up victimizing ourselves over the long haul, when we don't take those opportunities, we risk regret and we risk getting to the end of our life and really looking back and thinking, wow, maybe it really wasn't that big of a deal to just go for it, to just do the thing. And that is one of my huge drivers, really acknowledging the fact that I don't want to feel like that. I don't want to have those thoughts and those worries and those fears ever using that to propel you forward.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to wrap this up. I hope that you stick with me week over week in this podcast, in this journey. It's not just a podcast, it's a journey we're going to be going on together to release self doubt, sabotage and burnout that's another huge one that's been coming up lately quite a bit and really become the most confident that we can be, so we are living in integrity with ourselves. I'm honored that you're here. I'm honored that, if you're still listening, I'm honored that you've listened this far, and I commit to showing up every week and giving you the best content that I can provide for you to help you in these areas.

Speaker 1:

So our next episode is going to be about really breaking down to help you understand self doubt Like why do we do it? Why do we have it? A lot of times, people think they're the only ones that are doubting themselves and everyone else has it together. Not the case whatsoever, in fact. I think if people were able to see each other's thoughts, you would realize that a lot of the people that you're working with, a lot of the people that you're engaging with, all have similar thoughts and insecurities and doubts.

Speaker 1:

However, we often don't show these things to the public, which typically just perpetuates our own shame and feelings of inadequacy. So in our next episode, I'm going to be bringing to light, shedding some light, bringing some understanding and giving you some ways to start tackling the self doubt and helping you to release it. We're coming into the end of 2023 and I want you to feel absolutely empowered moving into 2020 and 24. 2024. Thank you for being here with me. I am honored to provide value for you in this podcast and I'll see you in the next one. Let's stay connected.
